征服考研英语长难句诀窍在此！

咱们先来看2016年考研英语真题阅读Text4中这两句话。
Nostalgia for ink on paper and the rustle of pages aside, there's plenty of incentive to ditch print. The infrastructure required to make a physical newspaper-printing presses, delivery trucks-isn't just expensive; it's excessive at a time when online-only competitors don't have the same set of financial constraints.
许多同学看第一句时就懵了,nostalgia是啥意思?ditch又是啥含义?其实,nostalgia的含义是"乡愁、怀旧",ditch的含义是"丢弃"。别看第一句话句子短,但其含义很让人费解。其实第一句话的主句就是"there's plenty of incentive to ditch print"这样一个"there be "句型,表示:"抛弃纸质报纸会有好多益处"。前半句的含义是:"把对纸墨和翻书的沙沙声的怀念先放在一边"。
再看第二句,要想看懂第二句话我们得先看清楚破折号和分号。其实我们需要拆开看该句。"The infrastructure required to make a physical newspaper-printing presses, delivery trucks-isn't just expensive;"是一个完整的句子,主语是"The infrastructure ",系动词和表语是"isn't just expensive"。"required to make a physical newspaper"是省略了"which is"的定语从句。"printing presses, delivery trucks"是"The infrastructure"的例证。所以句子拆开后的分号前的含义是:"如今纸质印刷所需要的设施,如印刷机和运送卡车,不仅仅是十分昂贵的"。分号后句子结构是"主语+系动词+表语+when引导的时间状语从句"。分号后的句子含义是:"它也是过量不必要的,因为网络报纸竞争对手根本不会在这些基础设施上花费,也不会遇到此类经济困境"。
再来看下面几句。The most loyal customers would still get the product they favor, the idea goes, and they'd feel like they were helping sustain the quality of something they believe in. "So if you're overpaying for print, you could feel like you were helping," Peretti said. "Then increase it at a higher rate each year and essentially try to generate additional revenue."
看第一句时,很多同学都能看出这是两个句子由"and"连接而成,但很多同学看不懂这里的"the idea goes",其实它就是一个插入语表示:有这么个想法(现象)。后一句其实就是引用了Peretti的一句话。这两句话的含义并不难懂--这样,最忠实的读者还将继续购买喜欢的报纸杂志,因为他们觉得他们在继续支持其信得过的产品的质量。"因此,如果继续高价购买纸质报纸,人们会觉得自己是在伸援助之手,"佩雷蒂说。"然后每年使其价格以比较高比率增长,以此获得额外收入"。
分析完以上句子同学们可以自行理解以下句子:"It's a really hard thing to do and it's a tremendous luxury that BuzzFeed doesn't have a legacy business," Peretti remarked. "But we're going to have questions like that where we have things we're doing that don't make sense when the market changes and the world changes. In those situations, it's better to be more aggressive that less aggressive."
参考含义是:佩雷蒂说:"这真的很棘手。网飞公司没有传统业务,这简直是一种奢侈,但问题是当市场和世界形势发生变化时,我们正在做的事情没有任何意义。在这种情况下,最好应该积极进取,而不是放弃。"
