　　What is success?It is what everyone is longing for.Sometimes success would be rather simple.

　　What is success? Different people hold views on This question. Some think that one is successful if he can make a great deal of money. Others argue that success means holding an important government post.

　　One day, my mother bought two little rabbits for me. I’m very happy.

　　From that on, the two little rabbits became my good friends. They have two little ears, red eyes, with white and fat boby. They’re marvellous.

　　Everyday, they play with each other happily. One day, I couldn’t find them. I asked my mother: ”Where are they? ” My mother told me that She didn’t know. At last, I found them in the grass. They were very dirty. I was angry, but when I looked at their lovely faces, I was happy again.

　　Everybody has his own family. What is family?

　　I don’t think everyone really knows. There are six letters in the word “ FAMILY ”. I think

　　“ F ” means “father”, “A” means “and”, “ M ” means “mother” , “ I ” means“ I”, “ L” means “ love” and “ Y ” means “you”. So “ FAMILY ” is the short form of “ Father and mother , I love you.”

　　Don’t you think so ? Father and mother love us , and we love father and mother . That’s a happy family.

　　地震作文：What is earthquake?

　　An earthquake is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves(地震波). Earthquakes are recorded with a seismometer(地震检波器), also known as a seismograph(地震仪). The moment magnitude of an earthquake is conventionally reported, or the related and mostly obsolete Richter magnitude(里氏量级), with magnitude 3 or lower earthquakes being mostly imperceptible 感觉不到的 and magnitude 7 causing serious damage over large areas. Intensity of shaking is measured on the modified Mercalli scale(麦加利震级, 麦氏震级).

　　At the Earth's surface, earthquakes manifest themselves by a shaking and sometimes displacement (位移)of the ground. When a large earthquake epicenter (震中)is located offshore, the seabed sometimes suffers sufficient displacement to cause a tsunami(海啸). The shaking in earthquakes can also trigger landslides and occasionally volcanic activity.

　　In its most generic sense, the word earthquake is used to describe any seismic event—whether a natural phenomenon or an event caused by humans—that generates seismic waves. Earthquakes are caused mostly by rupture(破裂, 裂开) of geological faults(断层), but also by volcanic activity, landslides, mine blasts, and nuclear experiments.

　　An earthquake's point of initial rupture is called its focus or hypocenter. The term epicenter means the point at ground level directly above this.

　　My father is an engineer. He works very hard.

　　Once I asked my father what the secret of success was. He didn't say a word, but wrote a few words on a piece of paper and handed it to me. I looked at the paper. On it was written: A=X+Y+Z.

　　"What does it mean?"I asked.

　　"A means success, explained my father. "X means hard, Y means good ways, and Z means you must stop talking and start to work."

　　That's right. From then on, I tried my best to be better.
