Only reading be self-motivated people can learn knowledge, otherwise, will become ignorant. I think, we should like to read books, love reading. I remember that du may once said a words: "reading make people relaxed and happy."
There is a famous saying: "read volumes, such as writing." Reading has many benefits, reading can let us growth knowledge; Reading books can broaden our vision; Reading can let we collected many good words we segment. In reading a book, I deeply feel: books are immense ocean, book is the sky of knowledge, books are endless prairie.
Gorky once said such a words: "books are the ladder of human progress." "I rushed in a book is like a hungry person sees a loaf of bread." Yes, books can cultivate people's sentiment, it can make us relax and breathe the fresh air. I think, love is never wrong, books can make us get rid of a lot of bad habits. It's good to read! Reading makes I aspire to be a useful person to society, I want to be like the beloved premier zhou "reading for the rise of the Chinese," we only have small to read and study hard, to master the knowledge, grow up, can we use our talents to serve human, repay our dear motherland.

只有读书求上进的人才能学到知识，不然的话，就会变得愚昧无知。我想，我们应该喜欢读书、爱读书。我记得，杜阿美曾经说过一句话：“读书使人心旷神怡。”
有一句名言说：“读书破万卷，下笔如有神。”读书有许多好处，读书可以让我们增长知识;读书可以开阔我们的视野;读书可以让我们收集到许许多多的好词好句好段。在读书中，我深深地感受到：书是无边无际的海洋，书是知识的天空，书是无垠的草原。
高尔基曾经说过这样两句话：“书籍是人类进步的阶梯。”“我扑在书上就像饥饿的人扑在面包上。”是的，书可以陶冶人的情操，它能让我们放松心情，自由呼吸新鲜的空气。我认为，爱书是永远都不会错的`，书可以让我们改掉许许多多的不良习惯。读书真好!读书使我立志做个对社会有用的人，我要像敬爱的周总理那样“为中华之崛起而读起”我们只有从小刻苦读书、学习，掌握那渊博的知识，长大了以后，才能用我们的才干为人类服务，报答我们那亲爱的祖国。
让我们赶快行动起来，去书的海洋遨游吧!那时你会体会到莎士比亚的名言：“生活中没有了书籍，就好像没有了太阳;智慧中没有了书籍，就好像鸟儿没有了翅膀。”所折射的真理。

Learning english can be a very difficult task for most people, this is because we dont live in a environment where we are forced to speak or write english. so i think the best way to learn english is by communicating with others using the lagnguage itself and not just learn from the book. Im sure if you live in an environment such as a foreign country and were forced to speak and write english everyday then your english will imprve dramatically.
Although we must agree that we need to read and write english from the book in order to get the foundations that we need for basic communication, this is essential but as i said, this is only a foundation, what you develop afterwards all depends on your ability to adapt to an environment and your courage.
对大多数人来说，学习英语是一项非常困难的任务，这是因为我们不生活在被迫说或写英语的环境中。所以我认为学习英语最好的.方法是通过使用语言本身而不是别人交流从书中学习。我相信如果你生活在一个环境如国外，被迫说，写英语你的英语将成绩显着。

As is well known, books teach us to learn life, truth, science and many other useful things. They increase our knowledge, broaden our minds and strengthen our character. In other words, they are our good teachers and wise friends. This is the reason why our parents always encourage us to read more books.
Reading is a good thing, but we must pay great attention to the choice of books. It is true that we can derive benefits from good books. However, bad books will do us more harm than good.

一、 活动背景
随着时代的发展,民族逐渐融合,“地球村”也越来越小.如何使中国与国际社会进行更好的交流,促进彼此的发展,是当代中国大学生不可推卸的责任。而英语作为世界上使用最广泛的语言，在国际的交流中自然起着至关重要的'作用。所以，英语水平已成为衡量当代大学生素质的基本标准之一。因此，本着“全院参与，办出特色，发现人才，培养学习兴趣”的宗旨，英语读书社举办一次面向全校各级的英语演讲比赛，以提高同学们的英语口语水平，提供一个可以展现自我，激励他人的舞台，并且加强在校大学生的竞争意识。
二、活动主题
“读书改变人生，学习成就未来”（Reading changes life, learning shapes future）
三、活动目的
为了给每位喜爱英语的同学提供一个展现自我的平台，丰富大家的第二课堂生活并配合学院关于第三届读书节活动的实施，同时充分挖掘个人的潜能，增强同学们的竞争意识，提高综合能力，英语读书社及外语系团总支特此举行以“读书改变人生，学习成就未来"（Reading changes life, learning shapes future）为主题的演讲比赛，相信本次活动能给大家带来意外的收获并能够终生受用。

when i'm free or in trouble, i always take out a book and read quietly. in no time, i've put my heart into it so that i'll forget all the troubles. it's in this way that i've formed the habit of reading in any time.
little boys as i was, i was interest in picture books and storybooks. i was struck by them. no sooner had i entered the middle school than i began to read novel, plays, essays and so on. i found i could get much from them. little by little i took great interest in literature and last term i won the first prize in the composition contest among middle-school students in zhe jiang.
reading “the emperor's new clothes”, i had to let out a burst of laughter over his fool. “the little match girl” couldn't keep me from crying for her misery. “ robinson crusoe” took me into a strange world full of danger. and i was also deeply impressed by helen keller's patience and perseverance… besides these, books also tell me other thing -how to be a man and how to tell the difference between right and wrong. in a word, good books can make me know what i didn't before. so i think of a good book as my best friend.
i'll never forget this famous saying,“ good books are best friends who never turn their backs upon us.”
have you ever learned english by watching english dvd movies? is that an effective english learning method for you? why?
watching english dvd movies is a very effective method of learning english. i learnt english at college at home. as a natural result of insufficient english speaking environment, my speaking and listening abilities were not developed satisfactorily, although my reading and writing abilities were quite all right. i remember my experience during a summer vacation when i made plans to watch 10 original english movies (i mean those not dubbed.) including the classic casablanca, rebecca, a tale of two cities, and little women.
i persistently carried out my plan and each of the films i watched a dozen times until i could recite most of the dialogues. at the end of that summer vacation, i found i became nearly as fluent as a native english speaker.
the ways of reading
we may obtain knowledge by reading. the more books we read, the more we accumulate the knowledge. is it right? i don’t think so. it’s not wide reading but useful reading that leads to excellence. and only good books can benefit us.
so choosing books is very important for reading. many students spend a lot of time reading legends and swordsman novels. it’s a waste of time. some students even read some bad books and it is harmful for them.
so be as careful of the books we read, as of the company we keep, for our habit and character will be as much influenced by the former as by the latter.

Some people say that reading is not good. Reading is a kind of burden, reading is locked in a tight without ventilation cages, reading as if to accept the devil training, you were dead, reading is very painful, it is the people on the lethal poison. I think the book is the ladder of human progress, is the human silent teacher, books are our friends, the book is nutrition of pills, books are food for the soul, the book let us into a heaven, there is a heaven. Reading is a kind of beautiful enjoyment. Reading, let you like into the wonderland, let your life more colorful childhood reading, cultivate your sentiments, relieve fatigue, you forget your trouble, reading is colorful sauces. Rather than call me elapsed time in playing, call me to book the ocean.
When I don't understand, I saw a book like hell, but as time goes by, I grow up, I know what is the real enjoyment, I learned to enjoy the pleasure of reading.

在我不懂事之时，我见书如见鬼，可随着时间的流逝，我长大了，我知道什么是真正的享受，我学会了享受读书的`乐趣。
读书破万卷，下笔如有神。读书不仅可以享受乐趣，而且对你有很大的帮助。书读多了，写起文章来，也会如行云流水一般，说起话来也文彬彬的，不是很好吗?
读书让我增添了许多乐趣，我也学会了享受读书的乐趣。在我童年的金色屋中，永远都存在着两个字“读书”。只有先学会读书，才懂得享受读书的乐趣。只有读书，你的生活才有意义，你的人生才会绽放出光芒，你也才不会虚度此生!
