　　it is very uncomfortable to inhale the smoke of a cigarette smoker. i know this for a fact, since my father smokes a lot. when we are together in a a room, the smoke he ehales fills my lungs and also makes my eyes water.

　　if possible, smoking in public should be banned altogether, because it is unfair for non-smokers to go through the ordeal of breathing smoke-filled air. so it is very inconsiderate of people to smoke in front of others. in airplanes, people who smoke are separated from passengers who don＇t. for the sake of everybody＇s health, i think this should be done in other public places too.

The speaker claims that it is the duty of those who live after them to decide. I concede that in certain areas, especially in scientific field where the significance of one hypothesis or invention has to be tested and retested by later followers to justify its correctness and accountability. In areas, such as art and business, it is possible to demonstrate one s greatness and collect recognition by his contemporaries.

　　In the field of art, we observe numerous examples convincing us that contemporaries do endow those great achievers with respect and recognition. It is true that originality is always what innovative artists crave for and thus make it impossible for ordinary people or even veteran art critic to appreciate. The paintings of Van Gush ran contrary to the wide-accepted norm and thus relegated by critics as indecipherable and bewildering. Even Shakespeare, the greatest writer we have in history was criticized by some literature critics as treacherous and a fancy exhibitor. But we need look no further than Mark Twain to justify how possible it is for an individual to be accepted by his counterpoise. Twain s vivid description of life on Mississippi River won him immediate fame as the most popular writer in American history and the happy ending is that a yesterday sailor became today s successful and rich writer.

　　i don’t think there’s any reason not to. we are ready to believe such commitment at the moment, whatever change may happen afterwards. as for the belief in an everlasting love, that’s another thing.then you may be asked whether there is such a thing as an everlasting love. i’d answer i believe in it. but an everlasting love is not immutable.you may unswervingly love or be loved by a person. but love will change its composition with the passage of time. it will not remain the same. in the course of your growth and as a result of your increased experience, love will become something different to you.

　　in the beginning you believed a fervent love for a person could last indefinitely. by and by, however,“ fervent” gave way to “ prosaic” . precisely because of this change it became possible for love to last. then what was meant by an everlasting love would eventually end up in a sort of interdependence.we used to insist on the difference between love and liking. the former seemed much more beautiful than the latter. one day, however, it turns out there’s really no need to make such difference. liking is actually a sort of love. by the same token, the everlasting interdependence is actually an everlasting love.
